Really really cool Project. Shows a lot of potential. I love the whole layout and how easy it is to use. Reminds me of the good old rpg-maker and the opportunity to make actual Gameboy games feels like a childhood dream come true.
Yet although I know and love how limitations can empower creativity, i feel like this is still a bit too limited. Once an rpg turnbased combat system is added to this tool (and maybe some access to deeper mechanics like jump physics and the likes), this will be absolutely amazing.

Can we make 3D games on this?

not possable do to gbc hardware limitations.

At least, without reworking the engine entirely

is there a way to make it work on a raspberry pi 4 8 gig model?

Not just yet but there is someone working on getting GB Studio to run on a Raspberry Pi, I just bought a pi 4 myself to test it out. Can't commit to a release date yet but we're working on it :-)

Question: What is the earliest version of mac required to run each version of GB Studio?

Hi I'm trying to make a simple arcade game where stuff falls and you have to collide with it to get score. I can only get the collision in top down and shoot em up, but I like the movement of point and click more. However when I have that mode on the collisions don't work, is there a way to fix this?

The adventure mode is pretty similar to point-and-click, but it allows collisions. I've used it to make a balloon-popping minigame.

I'm having a problem with the actors. When I try and interact with one, it doesn't seem to run the script in the "On Interact" section. Do you know what could be the problem?

This is such a cool concept, and from what I have heard and seen if it, it seems really well executed! I am so excited to download this I had to create an itch.io account just for this comment. I just hope it can live up to my expectations! I have very basic coding knowledge, so this is the perfect tool!

I love that now you can make games for Game Boy color, but do you ever consider making games for GBA ?

That would pretty much require a completely different app. The hardware and software are 100% different

I hope someone makes one sometime! You could also learn to do it yourself but it’s more complicated than this app

You can find a GameBoy Color for a pretty good price. I got mine at Highscore Videogames for $60. You would need a flashcart to play ROMs that you create using this. You can always turn to emulators if you need to save your money.

I recommend the gameboy advanced ags 101 model.  Has the fullest compatibility with every gameboy/color/advanced game. And the backlighting helps tremendously with gameplay.

the coding is like scratch, but harder and easier at the same time

hey i found this weird glitch while playing the game. what do you think it is? I've exported the game but it still gives me this. I'm using the beta version btw

Hi Staey, I think this is caused by an issue in Beta3 where it's not stopping you from writing too much text in the "Display Dialogue" events and something you have written is too long causing it to overflow into the memory used for the background tiles. Did it appear after talking to someone or does the game show that as soon as you start? If you could try reducing the amount of text in some of you dialogue boxes it might help. The next beta will have a fix for this so you can't type more than will be able to fit again.

Hi flashofhorizons, I've been trying on a bunch of Macs today to reproduce the error you're seeing to give you some advice on what to try and I think I've got a fix for you.

I'm working on a beta4 at the moment, once it's released I think you should be able to build your game correctly :-)

Which version are you trying to use Windows/Mac/Linux and v1.2.1 or v2.0.0beta? I've sometimes seen issues like this that get fixed on a Mac by installing Apple's command line tools https://www.gbstudio.dev/docs/build/#troubleshooting

Chromium license is needed to run the games in browser (Chromium and Chrome is related) no viruses whatsoever

When I was changing a map background any map that shared the same map background share detection. it would overwrite my detection previously made on the other maps beforehand. the inability to make a 'save as' was fatal to my project since i could not save and have earlier state of project. Also there was no warning that rom with same name get overwritten. But that last part is not on you at all. Also most of french translation is still in english. [also please let me know if i just missed something on how some of the program works]

I have a suggestion for the sample project: when you complete all the quests and go back to the town, you get a cutscene of getting an award or something for helping the town

Do you think you could allow for larger sprites. And a way to tell what animations can be flipped manually, and a way to set how your animations play out. Also can you allow for altering the trajectory and speed of the characters to a fine point. Otherwise, thats all I can think of for the beta. And that's pretty retty freaking awesome
